In late 2022, Strategies to End Homelessness joined the Housing Stabilization Learning Cohort. Seven communities from around the country make up the group. The purpose of the group is to slow down the inflow of households into homelessness. And do so through a racial equity lens.

Each community in the cohort has an experienced coach to help them establish goals and measure progress. They meet on a regular basis to learn from each other. Although each community may have different goals and tactics, communities can learn what works. And what doesn’t.

Also, an integral part of the cohort are experts with lived experience of homelessness. Learn more about how we are tapping into this expertise locally here.

Finally, our local partners, Freestore Foodbank, Bethany House Services, and Found House IHN are part of this Cohort as well. They are key to making this successful.

What is Community Solutions?

The organization leading this initiative is Community Solutions. Community Solutions uses data and proven solutions to move the needle on ending homelessness. Their mission statement is working to create a lasting end to homelessness that leaves no one behind.

Built for Zero is their main project. It is a years-long initiative dedicated to using proven methods to end homelessness in different communities. 3CDC, Strategies to End Homelessness, and other local partners are a part of this initiative. The focus is on homelessness in downtown Cincinnati.

The Housing Stabilization Learning Cohort is the latest piece of the Built for Zero project. This Cohort has a smaller number of communities so they can focus on solutions that work. As well as try innovative ideas.

We’re excited about where this Cohort leads us. And excited to learn about what works well in other communities.
